National Trust Scotney Castle, Lamberhurst – August 2026

Ash Remediation Management were approached by a prominent contractor in the Kent region whose prestigious client wanted to construct a multi terraced car parking facility.

The site investigation carried out previously at the site identified soils with a weak bearing pressure which would need to be increased for the parking area and associated access roads. Members of the Ash team visited site and conducted a trial pitting operation across the potential working area. Samples were collected and laboratory tested against the TRL 447 Sulphate Suite. The testing proved that the host material was suitable for cement soil stabilisation.

A dust free soil stabilisation mixing unit was used for the soil treatment and the ground was constantly watered to obtain the correct moisture content. The ground improvement was completed in ten working days including mobilisation/demobilisation. Expectations were surpassed on the final result with the bearing strength significantly higher than the minimum required.

This is another demonstration of Cement soil stabilisation offering an effective and efficient ground improvement solution.
